When I first found out about this place I was super excited. Because finally you can get Japanese style pasta in Vancouver, they were the first one to open in Richmond (even though they are not opened by Japanese). This restaurant has been here for almost 4 to 5 years as I remember correctly, they used to only sell Japanese style pasta but later become a dessert café as well.
They have special lunch/dinner combos where you can get a toast, salad/soup, pasta for around $12-16 dollars depending on which pasta you select.
Their pasta is always cooked to al dente (perfect chewiness). I especially like their light/clear sauce. Usually toss lightly in a frying pan, great alternative to traditional Italian pasta.
I always get a matcha latte from them because they are never sweetened. (Usually how I like my drinks, you can adjust your own liking.)
This is a durian cheesecake. It is something that I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS get when I come here. I would not suggest it if you do not like durian (an exotic and strong aroma fruit from Thailand). But being a durian lover, I simply cannot resist it. Smooth, rich in durian flavour. There is nothing not to love about this cake.
I love this cozy quiet family run business, which I always get great service here. Never too too busy, great chat spot if you need to catch up lots.
I am having a bit sugar overload summer, visited lots of cafes and dessert places. Got so many eating eating and eating for the summer, almost have no time to blog. 😮 But I am being good now and blogging this new place I found nearby my home.
Clean and chic design of the interior, neatly displayed cakes and chocolates.
When I entered the cafe, it felt like I went into a different world. What I meant is that it’s so different from the environment outside (Hastings and a used car dealer on the side), I ordered two pieces of cake with a friend and sat by the window and look from a very quiet cafe out onto the busy street of Hastings. Enjoy an hour and a half of pleasant chat. 🙂
Vanilla Mousse with blueberry sponge cake with blueberry center. This was delicious! I loved it every bit, the soft smooth vanilla mousse with sweet blueberry in the center, the bottom of the cake is a layer of waffle which add texture and crunch to the softness of this cake. Very refreshing and was not overly sweet. Ohh, mouth is watering recalling the taste. 😛
Orange cream with dark chocolate mousse and hazelnut crunch. If you are a chocolate lover you will love this one. Rich dark chocolate mousse with orange cream and crunchy hazelnut made it irresistible.
I am glad I found this place close to home, I would love to try out more cakes from them. However I do have a side note about their customer service…..I would consider take out.
This is a very small store, I entered and saw a lady by the counter right away. However this lady wasn’t very friendly, she seems very unenthusiastic and unwilling to help. I did not see her smile at me the whole entire time I was there – from walking in to ordering to leaving. I know this is a family business, but I think this type of customer service is still unacceptable.
It’s been a while since I have came here. Came here with a two kids and two adults on a Sunday and it was BUSY! When I was placing the order, we had to wait for seats. If you have been here you know this is a very small cafe and it is usually very busy but today was extra busy. But regardless we got our seats. (To accommodate 5 people.)
The triple chocolate tower – ” A chocolate lover’s dream! Three layers of rich fine dark, milk and white chocolate on a hazelnut sponge base, finished with a chocolate glaze.”
This is my piece of heavy. I loved the soft and fluffiness of this cake and the richness of the chocolate. If you are a chocolate fan, please try it!
Charlotte Royale – citrus jello at the bottom with wafflers and chocolate mousse.This one has a lot of texture going on and it sure is different than the other ones you can have at this cafe.
Grapefruit Tart – this is a seasonal version of the lemon tart that they have. Similar sour to the lemon and same type of foaming texture. Thought I felt like I like the lemon better because I can really taste the strong flavour of lemon.
